{love} Best of 2013

Wednesday, January 01, 2014

It's been a fabulous year and I've had so much fun starting up this little blog of mine back in February. It's been such a wonderful journey already that I'd thought I'd look back at some of my favorite posts from this past year. And just for fun some pics of the Boo so you can see how big she is getting!

One of my very favorites is this little moment with Baby Bear that I want to remember forever. The memory is already fading, I'm so glad I recorded it here.

The next is the reason why I'm obsessed with the word sweetheart and the beginning of my {obsessed} posts. Look for much more of them in 2014!

In March I wrote a post called These Precious Ones where I tried to explain why I am so very aware of how precious this life is and what we are doing to prepare to lose it one day.

Why I will never call Freddie Mercury creepy ever again. 'Nuff said.

Why I call my self a femininist instead of a feminist  was my first post about women's gender roles, something that has since become a favorite topic of mine.

The one where my newlywed self thought I had this marriage thing figured out. Oh I was so naive when we first got married.

When I realized how special it was to be her momma.

When I realized that being a brat wasn't being a good wife.

Perhaps the hardest post I've ever written was this heartfelt response to the subject of gay marriage. I wish I could express myself like this in interpersonal conversation, but that's one of the reasons why I blog; to take the time to get all my thoughts a feelings clear and organized before I trip over my own tongue and mess them up.

The Mommy Switch is still one my most popular posts with readers. I wish I could manually flip the switch so I could choose when to have limitless patience. That would be great.

Why it is so important to hold on to unattainable dreams.

How math helps me explain my testimony.

Was such a happy busy month I didn't blog at all!

I started a series responding to a fabulous speech about women and the priesthood that really crystallized a lot of points for me.

Wrote a note to my little sunflower to read to her when she is older.

The Great Commandment of Marraige is a post I originally wrote for Mormon Mommy Blogs about a principle that has totally changed my entire perspective of my marriage.

As part of Breast Cancer Awareness month, I started sharing my story about living with a hereditary breast and ovarian cancer gene mutation. I was on the fence about sharing this with the interwebs, but I'm now so grateful that I did.

As part of my own twist on thankful posts, I shared some of the reasons I adore gowns and fashion design.

I also started a series on Making Your Home a Haven that was picked up by both Mormon Mommy Blogs and LDS Living's Best of Blogs page.

Just after turning 30 I shared my list of 30 things to do before you are 30.

I also shared two of my favorite messages of Christmas, Let Love be Your Lodestar, and All is Calm, All is Bright.

What a wonderful year it has been. I'm so excited for 2014 and all the adventures that lie ahead!

  1. It really does look like you have had a great year. I really enjoyed your 30 things to do before you are 30. Especially the thank your parents part. I don't think people do that enough. I had the most amazing Christmas this year. My entire family got together and we were talking about all the old times and really appreciating each other. It was nice. And to top it off, the look on my son's face when he opened his Kool Rider bicycle noise maker that makes his bike sound like a motorcycle was priceless. I got the biggest hug I have ever gotten that day. I hope you have a very happy and healthy new year Monica!
