{gratitude} ephemeral architecture

"A dress is a piece of ephemeral architecture designed to enhance the proportions of the female body."           -Christian Dior

You may not know this about me, but fashion design is my art of choice. To build beauty from fabric, to form a three dimensional work of art from flat two dimensional fabric, to create the house in which we experience our world and live the beautiful moments of life, that is my addiction.

"The desire to create is one of the deepest yearnings of the human soul...we each have an inherent wish to create something that did not exist before."     - Elder Dieter F Uchtdorf

To create a garment is only the first act of creation. To wear a garment is to create movement in its form, to breathe life into its shape.

"My personality resembles my designs to a large extent. I'm in sync with myself and I'm transparent, just like my designs."   -Elie Saab

Fashion is a moving art form that chronicles a daily expression of our evolving personalities, our changing moods, and the prevalence of our values.

" ... she maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple ... "    Proverbs 31:22

I suppose one of the reasons I love designing is that we don't just admire the beauty of a beautiful gown, but we take it upon ourselves and live in that beauty. That is something that just can't be done with any other form of art.

I feel a deep sense of gratitude for the gift to be able to see beauty and for the opportunity to seek to create it in a way that can be not just admired, but lived.
