{obsessed} pretty little packages

Hey all! Guess what came in the mail for me! A pretty little belated Christmas present....

Persuasion by Jane Austen from the Barnes and Noble Leatherbound Classics Collection. Persuasion is by far the best novel Jane Austen ever wrote. The silliness and frivolity of Northanger Abby, her first, is far behind her by the time she wrote Persuasion, which I believe was the last of her novels. It's filled with quiet conviction, the strength of a true love born for a long time, and the kind of hope that can last through long long winters. And though you know it will end in happily ever after, you almost don't believe it is possible till the very last moment. Persuasion is an excellent example of writing that is so true to our human nature that we can relate to it, even through cultural and generational distances. Needless to say it is one of my most cherished books, so I knew just what to get with the BnN gift card I received from my lovely daddy and step mom for Christmas. And I knew right where to put it too!

Though mostly categorized by general category and subject, my bookshelves are also arranged in a visually pretty manner. I love classics and vintage books. You may not judge a book by it's cover, but you'll definitely want to pick up a pretty one! And when you have so little time to read wonderful books, you can at least get a little pleasure in looking at wonderful books.

I did start reading it while I put the baby down to sleep, but she is already obsessed with books and wouldn't let me read it until she could hold it with her tiny little hands. Needless to say naptime was a bit delayed today.

What is your most cherished book? Any recent reads that I should add to my Book Bucket List?
