{mommydom} mothers day gift ideas

Let's just admit the fact that hubbies need to be reminded of Mother's Day. They should get credit for all the birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays with specific dates that they remember and not be held accountable for the holidays that are on a different date each year. Now, hopefully it is someone else that reminds them, like their buddies, their calendars, or the grocery store advertisments, but even if they remember the date they probably need some hints as to what to get for such a lovely lady on such a lovely day. So here are some hints you can drop for your manly men to inspire them for Mother's Day.

Flowers - I adore flowers every day of the year, but they are especially wonderful on Mother's Day. Pink roses and pussy willows are nice picks for spring. For the men, here's a special tip: call the florist directly instead of ordering online, it will save you extra fees. You don't have to know anything about flowers, that's what the florists are for; just pick one special thing (say her favorite color or favorite flower) and your budget you'd like to spend and let them take it from there. You can also have them delivered a day or two early for added special effect and first pick of the flowers before the holiday rush.

Jewelry - Some moms would love to have something that will last longer than flowers. An elegant piece of jewelry that they can wear everyday can be a continual reminder of your family's love and appreciation. This bracelet has MOM written on it in all kinds of languages and is only 12.95 at Deseret Book. Necklaces with the birthstones of each of your lady's kiddos is also a good choice.

Book - When picking out a book for Mom, make sure to go with something that is personal and uplifting. When all else fails pick a book about motherhood! I've been meaning to pick this one up from Seagull Book called Covenant Motherhood by Stephanie Dibbs Sorensen. She wrote it to try to show the importance in all the many things moms do, even the everyday things, by showing how they can teach us more about Christ and our role in becoming like Him. If you've read it, let me know how you liked it.

Momento - In truth, any little thing that has meaning would be a wonderful gift for Mother's Day. I love the Child of My Heart from the Willow Tree Collection. The whole collection is beautiful and captures precious little moments of life so perfectly. And best of all they are super affordable.

Chocolates - Need I say more?

Now, I've saved the best for last. The one every mother wants, the one she will treasure the most, and the one that will cost the least......

A Love Note - to tell her how much she means to you. Best. Gift. Ever.

  1. I have to partially disagree. My favorite mothers day gift is going out to dinner and when my hubby makes all the plans it is the best. I can do with out jewelry. I never wear it and it is too expensive.

  2. That is a great idea! BH is doing that for our anniversary this year, making all the plans and taking care of all the details, and I have to say it is fabulous!
